Beta-thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder characterized by the reduced or absent production of beta globin chains, resulting in an imbalance of alpha and beta globin chains in hemoglobin molecules. An elevated level of HbA2 is a characteristic finding in individuals with beta-thalassemia trait or beta-thalassemia minor.
