Just when you think you have seen it all in pathology - the endometrium decides to grow bone. Yes , actual bone, complete with osteocytes chilling in lacunae like they own the place.
This rare entity, osseous metaplasia, usually follows old inflammation or retained tissue - basically, the uterus saying “ you know what ? I’m tired of being soft and emotional. Time to toughen up - literally” 💀
The patient complains of irregular bleeding ans scans show dense echo.
The pathologist opens the pot, find gritty bits, and wonder if ortho sent the sample by mistake. Microscopy confirms it : the uterus has gone rock solid in spirit and structure.
Moral : Never underestimate the endometrium - it can bleed, heal, and sometimes…..ossify it’s feeling
